Key job responsibilities Problem Solving: - Maintain high system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets efficiently, serving as an escalation point and technical troubleshooter for systems and network hardware problems. - Investigate and resolve complex Linux server issues. - Troubleshoot XEN service virtualization problems. Technical: - Troubleshoot technical issues across systems, networking, and power/mechanical domains. - Remediate physical layer outages in systems and networks, including power-related problems. - Participate in data center power and cooling events. Operations: - Work rotating shifts to meet 24/7 on-call requirements. - Install and configure server racks per internal SLAs. - Triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices in the assigned region. - Act as the data center point of contact for high-severity issues. - Replace server and network device parts as needed. - Ensure correct rotation of spare parts. - Contribute to uptime improvement metrics. - Enforce Amazon's security best practices. - Interact with third-party vendors, contractors, and remote hands/eyes. Project Management: - Participate in and deliver high-impact small to mid-scale projects. - Attend team meetings for metric analysis and project status updates. - Contribute to building the world's largest cloud infrastructure.
